The EU is dedicated to reach carbon neutrality by 2050. Advancements in green hydrogen production prove to be one of the most viable paths to reach this goal. Jadrová energetická spoločnosť Slovenska (JESS), enlisting Aspiro, decided to assess its own potential in zero-emission fuels production, and thus contribute in low carbon future.
Aspiro created scenarios for various land use alternatives with main focus on wind farms and photovoltaic parks with different installed power capacities and examined potential use of large-capacity batteries for the storage of surplus electricity from renewable sources in the production of hydrogen. Aspiro developed financial models to showcase economic performance of different scenarios and provided an analysis of investment co-financing options from various financial grant mechanisms and structures. Furthermore, Aspiro assessed current legislation frameworks, market and regulatory trends, conditions of connecting to power grid, purchase and sale of electricity, permission and construction process timespans and risks for each of these scenarios.
Aspiro’s active attitude, personal approach and constructive communication with all relevant stakeholders enabled quick delivery of valuable insights for the client. Working with Aspiro helped JESS to make a big leap forward in its plans to produce green hydrogen as a vehicle for a sustainable future.
